Description

Knowledgeable and professional managers who can meet the challenges of today’s modern and evolving tourism industry are essential for the economic development of tourism-oriented countries. The four-year American Hospitality and Tourism Management BS program prepares students for professional and managerial positions in services, hospitality and tourism, one of the biggest and fastest-growing industries in the world.

Program structure and curriculum

The curriculum and program standards are fully aligned with the U.S.-based Hospitality and Tourism program from our parent university, Rochester Institute of Technology, allowing students to obtain both U.S. and European (Croatian) degrees.

This program provides an ideal balance of hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge in economy, tourism, and hospitality. A mandatory part of the program is gaining real professional work experience in the field of study through a minimum of 800 hours of co-op and internship placements in companies in Croatia and abroad.

Skills and Typical job titles

The main emphasis is on the disciplines of marketing, communication, finances, HTM operations, entrepreneurship, and the application of these areas to international hospitality and tourism. In addition to advanced business English, students learn another foreign language and can choose from German, Italian, Spanish, or French. Our alumni have developed their careers as event managers, F&B consultants, F&B managers, restaurateurs, and EU project managers. In addition, some assume managerial and leadership positions such as department heads (Finance, HR, Marketing, MICE), directors of strategic development, operations managers, general managers, chief executive officers (CEO’s), entrepreneurs / business owners, and positions in state administration (Mayor, Secretary of State).
